Mille Plateaux is back. Label founder Achim Szepanski compiled the essay book Ultrablack of Music as well as this compilation of dark underground ambient music, including Mijk van Dijk’s new track “Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt”, which is a German proverb for “the hope dies last”. In his contribution for the Ultrablack of Music – Compilation Mijk revisits his 1992 tune High On Hope and glitches the original melody to a sonic cloud of bitter-sweet emotions.
The name “Mille Plateaux” (A Thousand Plateaus) initially stemmed from a concept and same-titled principal work by French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, who himself gave approval of its use to the original label founder.
The compilation Ultrablack of Music can be purchased on Bandcamp.
