I’m very happy to announce my 2017 Japan Tour. This September I shall tour Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo and introduce the music of my new label microglobe.
Yesterday I attended the Berlin premiere of a new movie after a book by Element Of Crime singer Sven Regener. It’s a comedy set in the German Techno scene of the 90s. Marmion’s 1993 classic “Schöneberg” is part of the soundtrack.
German electronic pop duo 2raumwohung aka Inga Humpe and Tommi Eckart just released their 8th studio album Nacht und Tag. The opening track “1993” also carries some inspiration from “Schöneberg”
The video premiere of the second a glow single monsters is out NOW: the very fashionable KALTBLUT Magazine presented the stunning video
Oh, I know, I did not post a proper monthly mix for quite a while now. So here’s a mix with the type of Techno I like to spin.
This is the Dusty Dub Mix I played live on Liquid Sky Berlin presentzzz on April 21st during Superbooth17, featuring new and classic dub tech tunes.
This is my jam for “Liquid Sky Berlin presentzzz” , the radio show by the Liquid Sky Berlin posse on Alex Berlin radio 91,00 FM from our show on April 14th 2017.
I did this DJ Mix for “Liquid Sky Berlin presentzzz”, the radio show by the Liquid Sky Berlin posse on Alex Berlin radio 91,00 FM on March 3rd to celebrate “303-Day”.
I’m gonna play an Old School LIVE-Set as LoopZone at Tekknozid on February 18th, just like almost 25 years ago. It’s gonna be all live with hardware machines and no strings attached.
The first single release „Perfect“ of a glow aka Jette von Roth and Mijk van Dijk is now remixed by their friends from the Liquid Sky Berlin collective.
Looking forward to play LaLeLu at Humboldthain Club Berlin on Friday, January 27th 2017. That’s tonight, folks. 😉
My dear friends, 2016 has been quite a rough ride, hasn’t it?
I’m excited to announce my next release on BluFin Records from Cologne: the Mankind United EP, once again with my man from New Delhi Rummy Sharma and again conceived in both of our studios. This is BluFin catalogue number 200. While the flip side Catpower is inspired by a meoawing synth sound and Rummy’s and my love for cats, the title for the main track Mankind United is clearly chosen to shine a light in the darkness of these days, where humanity and common sense have become very fragile again. Instead of fighting each others in the gutter of society, we the people of the microglobe should rather be united to face the challenges of a future like environmental pollution, xenophobia and violent conflicts that are being pressed on us in the name of nationalism, cold economic rationalism and fanatic religious beliefs. Musically, this track like some others that I’ll be releasing in the first half of 2016 marks my regained interest in harder Techno and although that specific sound of my faithful Devilfish-303 may ring an old school bell in some of you, it’s the dense and slightly disharmonic atmosphere that I love most about this track. I have played „Mankind United“ to enthusiastic crowds already and I hope that you guys will love it too. Get it at Beatport or your favourite webshop. First DJ feedback is enthusiastic too. Thank you! Kaiser Souzai: Amazing EP! Mankind United is a banger! Full support! Rating: 5/5 Wollion: Klarer Hit!!! 🙂 Rating: 5/5 Harry Avers: Excellent! Mankind United is really awesome. Rating: 5/5 Update: I just noticed still videos on MyVideo. Click here for Mankind United and...read more
Yesterday’s Walfisch Revival Party once again meant a back reflection to the Old School. I brought almost only records that I didn’t play in my sets from 2015 and 2014 to further complete my narrative of Old School tracks rather than playing the same set again in a different order. The vibe was great and original as always, fueled by superb sets of DJs Würfler, Henriko Sagert, Felix FX and Andü. The live premiere of “Everybody’s Free” by Felix FX & Paula P’Cay was another highlight of the party. Special thanks to Steffi and Jay for making it all happen once again! music 4 the microglobe is back with another episode of dark and moody music in times of unrest and tension. Also introducing my first release in 2016, a mix for Superstrobe’s The Future on BluFin Records. Is the future gonna be bright? Or dark? Or futile? We cannot tell you but provide the soundtrack. As a member of the Liquid Sky Berlin artist collective it’s my pleasure to present the fantastic new website of Telepathic Bubblebath radio. Telepathic Bubblebath is a modern platform for futuristic radio-culture, experimental music and abstract sound-designs – streamed 24 / 7 in the beloved interwebz but also broadcasted on “real” air / radiofrequencies via our partner-radiostations which get parts of their night-program from us in real time. All DJ mixes you hear are xclusively made for TPBB. A lot of the tracks are exclsuively produced for TPBB and not available on any other streaming platform or onlineshop. The telepathic bubblebath radiostream is 100% free of advertisment. If you own a radiostation and want to broadcast parts of the TPBB shows or if you are an experimental sound-artist and want to get featured & broadcasted on TPBB you can contact the Telepathic Bubblebath crew HERE! To celebrate this, here’s my DJ Set at LSB.tv Berlin from 2015-09-19. Please don’t expect pumping beats: when I play Ambient Electronica I totally free my mind from rocking a dancefloor. I dive into sounds, rhythm and noises, remodel them in speed and pitch, deconstruct them with the endless possibilities of modern DJ software (Traktor) and set sail for a journey to yet undiscovered territory. This mix is very dark-hearted and gloomy. Do you dare to join me? P.S.: STEMS and Remix Packs used by Liquid Sky Berlin, SFX and Native Instruments And psssst: there’s gonna be a smartphone app too!...read more
My next release is out: my “Future House Remix” of Superstrobe’s The Future. When Manuel Winkler aka Superstrobe gave me a couple of new productions last year, The Future was the stand-out track. I did a remix and arranged a release on BluFin. So happy that this fine collaboration is now finally out. Get it on Beatport or your favourite...read more
Now this is not me jamming with an Elektron Machinedrum, nor a direct collaboration with the NinjaTune recording artist Machinedrum. But at least, we are indeed both involved. The full story goes like this: I received a message recently from Teklife57 Records. They were preparing a commemorative compilation for DJ Rashad, one of their main artists who passed away on 26 April 2014 and were asking for permission to release a Footwork remix that Machinedrum did on my Microglobe classic High On Hope from 1992. I don’t know Machinedrum personally and don’t really play his tracks, since my DJ style is different, but I’ve seen him perform live in Berlin already, which was impressive. I also know his work with his buddy Jimmy Edgar, whom I’m a fan of and whom I’ve also interviewed for my former radio show Motherfunk on BLN.fm. I have to say I’m honoured to have Machinedrum, a high profile artist, rework one of my tunes in such an artistic way. He also used big chunks of the tune A Brief British Breakbeat Inferno, which was released on the High On Hope Summer Remix EP and also featured on the influential Tresor – Auferstanden Aus Ruinen compilation. Fun fact: that track was produced and intended as a tongue-in-cheek parody of British breakbeat tracks that were making their way over to Berlin in 1992. Suffice to say it was a genre I did not enjoy as much as pure Techno. All the proceeds of this compilation will go to Rashad’s son and so I want to encourage you to get the vinyl version of the compilation AfterLife including Machinedrum’s remix, which is also available via Soundcloud. „When the world is running down, you make the best of what’s still around.“ That’s not my rhyme, but what The Police sang back in 1980 on their Zenyatta Mondatta album. 36 years later the world is running down again and well, we’re gonna make the best out of it: play some dark and trippy Techno. With a little glimpse of hope at the end. Just believe. Because I want to believe: that we are the microglobe. BTW: in February, March and April no transmission on BLN.fm: the station is moving to a bigger, better and brighter place. No, not heaven. But close. More news as they come! Promised!
