microglobe is Mijk van Dijk’s new label for his very personal vision of Techno and House. Since his first record release in 1990 he has been a mainstay of the Berlin Techno scene.
Apart from appearances at DOMMUNE and Oiran Warm Up Radio Show my main occupation on my 30th tour to Japan was my first ever gig at Kaga Music Festival,
Hello there, as the Berlin real estate market is heating up, we just made more room in Schöneberg with remixes by 2raumwohnung and Der Dritte Raum.
To celebrate my 30th tour to Japan, I have been invited to DOMMUNE to talk about my 29 trips to Japan so far. I’m also gonna introduce my new label microglobe. Very excited.
I’m touring Japan right now, with appearances at Kaga Music Festival and Dommune web TV. Also I started to post on Instagram on a daily basis.
I did an official remix for the wonderful tune “1993” by German duo 2raumwohnung. I’m very happy with it and can’t wait for your comments.
New Mijk van Dijk Remix out on Schönbrunner Perlen from Vienna. I remixed the track “Horizont” by Austrian artist T Raum,
1. Ilija Djokovic – Pandora – Terminal M 2. Christian Nielsen – Together – Exploited Ghetto 3. Daso – Thujon – Connaisseur
Today 20 years ago my first “Best-Of”-Compilation was released in Japan through Sony Music/ Office 7, the CD “Multi-Mijk” mixed by my good friend DJ Toby Izui aka Tobynation in 1998.
It’s been a while since Marmion’s Schöneberg has been remixed
1. Butch – Countach – Cocoon 2. Tale Of Us – Error Error – Fabric 3. Therapy – Alexa, Can We Make A Dance Track – White Label
I was invited to Rwanda by Goethe-Institut Kigali to give DJ-and producer workshops, hold a lecture on Berlin Techno culture and play a DJ set at Mamba Club.
It’s the time of year again: Christmas season is here. Back in the early 90s, the discontinued Boom Magazine invited several activists from the Berlin club scene for a Christmas photo shooting: DJ Terrible as the little Jesus baby, Heike Woosey and Uwe Reineke as Mary and Joseph, Ellen Allien, Kati Schwindt and Mac Folkes as the three holy kings and finally Clé, Bernd Neff and yours truly as the shepherds. Already a classic! I hope that your Christmas wishes may all come true and wish you a peaceful and merry...read more
My dear friends and fans in Germany and abroad, I am still shocked about the horrible assault on the Christmas market at Berlin’s Breitscheidplatz, an iconic square in the heart of Westberlin, that I know by heart. I will never be able to understand the hatefulness of an individual to commit such atrocity. I am also disgusted by the kind of discussions following this incident, instrumentalizing it with prefab accusations and predictions. I am not gonna accuse nobody else but that asshole and his companions. I am not gonna follow the logic of violence and retaliation. I am not gonna get involved in endless useless discussions weighing the lives of innocent victims against each other. My language is music and this is what I have to say: PEACE 4 ALL! I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a happy, healthy, successful and particularly peaceful New Year 2017 ! P.S.: Thanks for the quick and quality mastering by Sandro...read more
Strange and mysterious things happen in the autumn-coloured forests of Oberhavel in the far north of Brandenburg. Problems shrink and people get lost. Like in this wonderful video that Gernoto shot for perfect, the first single of my new duo a glow together with singer Jette von Roth. A woman at the edge. A beautiful blue car. A trunk full of problems. A lynchesque solution. For you vintage car lovers: the blue beauty is a 1970 Opel Commodore GS/E. Special thanks to Walze for borrowing it to us for our video shooting. I am superhappy with this video and when you like it, I would love you to share it. You can listen to the whole EP on Soundcloud. And you can get it in many major download stores like iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, Juno Download, Traxsource. Video: a glow –...read more
a glow are singer/songwriter Jette von Roth and DJ/producer Mijk van Dijk from Berlin. Together they produce crackling campfire electronica. „perfect“ is the first single release from their upcoming debut album „Of The Undergrowth“. After two instrumental solo albums on her own label roter punkt, Jette von Roth finally comes back with vocal compostions, conceived and produced with her husband Mijk van Dijk. „Perfect“ is a fine example of their style: warm and fragile, dreamy and brittle, experimental and familiar. To serve the dancefloor, Jette and Mijk conceived a super-slow club mix that shines a different light on the original. Building on classic House music elements like a big bassline and minimalistic percussion, Jette’s unique voice is surrounded by lush and warm soundspaces. The epic Cosmic Baby Remix comes of surprise only to those who hadn’t noticed his collaborations on Jette’s first two solo albums yet. Jette and Mijk just couldn’t resist to ask him for his version of „Perfect“. Harald Blüchel created a meditative sound scape that suits Jette’s voice like a glove, each and every single tone and note thorougly crafted and placed. A perfect sound track for your mind movie. Mijk van Dijk also mixed his own club version that has been road-tested and approved by cheering crowds all over the world already. The radio version finally boils down the composition on its essential 4:17 minutes. Like on some other a glow songs the drums have been played by Ralf Gustke from Söhne Mannheims. Out now on many major download stores like iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, Juno Download,...read more
Yesterday night I played once again together with my friend Harald Blüchel aka Cosmic Baby at the Liquid Sky Berlin Ambient Underwater Candlelight Jam at Maze in Berlin. In 1992 we conceived together an early milestone in electronic music history: the compilation Tranceformed From Beyond, that gathered 13 electronic tracks on a mixed, or should I rather say “composed” CD. This compilation coined the term “Trance ” for hypnotic repetitive emotional music for at least the next 2 years to come until any kind of melodic techno and even chart music was labelled “Trance”, a process which killed the term forever. Ordered by Mark Reeder, then head of MFS Records, most of the tracks were taken from the rapidly growing MFS catalogue or licensed from friends, like Quazar’s “Dragonfighters”, a deeper version of “The Seven Stars” or GTO’s remixes for Cosmic Baby Most other mixes were especially remixed by Cosmic Baby for this compilation, always keeping in my mind to make ends meet: to end the track on a speed and harmony that could be mixed within four seconds with the next track: we did not have hardest recorders at that time and the digital mastering system only allowed four seconds of transition time. I would join later with my mixes with and without Cosmic Baby and was also involved in the final mixing process, conceived by Wolfgang Ragwitz, the mastering wizard of DSB (Deutsche Schallplatte Berlin), the successor of the state-owned East-German record company VEB Deutsche Schallplatte. I would use the mixing and mastering technique together with Wolfgang Ragwitz two years later for my first album Afreuropamericasiaustralica. Historical fact: the mastering studio by DSB was situated in the former Reichspräsidentenpalais right behind the Reichstag, before Berlin had been declared the capital of Germany and the parliament moved from Bonn to Berlin in 1999. The building is used now by the Deutsche Parlamentarische Gesellschaft. I still love this album a lot, it has an immediate innocence and you can hear that every step we took there was like treading on new ground where only angels had dared to go before. Here’s a playlist on YouTube with all the tracks from 24 years ago. Sit back, relax and treat yourself to this mix! Tranceformed From...read more

I played my first techno liveset this year at Kassablanca Jena, performing a journey through my music from the last 25 years and also introducing the forthcoming first EP on my label microglobe productions called “Peace 4 All”. The motivation for the choice of tracks out of 2 ½ decades (see playlist below) was the party motto of the Rave Strikes Back crew: “25 Jahre House & Techno in Jena”. Support on the DJ decks came from my Berlin boy DJ Jauche aka Oliver Marquardt and Jena’s own Foch & Mulé. There have been already some pictures and videos floating through the net like this one, playing my Marmion classic Schöneberg. Kassablanca is next to Distillery Leipzig the longest running Techno club in the East of Germany and yet this gig on October 2nd 2016 was a first for me. Thanks so much to Kassablanca and the Rave Strikes Back crew. Here’s the live recording directly from the desk. Hope you excuse the occasional microphone feedback and enjoy the show! Playlist: 1. Microglobe – What Is Space? 2. Microglobe – High On Hope 3. Microglobe – The Gap 4. Mijk van Dijk – Closer (Live Update) 5. Mijk van Dijk – Ebony 6. Mijk van Dijk – More 7. Marmion – Schöneberg 8. Microglobe – Environ-mentality 9. Mijk van Dijk – Peace 4 All 10. Microglobe – All Our Colours Listen on Rave Strikes Back’s Soundcloud. Visit Rave Strike’s Back Blog. Listen on Mijk’s Mixcloud. Here’s the review of the whole...read more
Today I would like to post a recommendation for “Raving Iran”, a movie about the Techno scene in Iran, a country where you can end up in jail when you follow Techno. I watched a preview of this with my friend DJ Namito who had left Iran as a teenager soon after the Shiite revolution of Ayatollah Khomeini and we did a short interview in German language about our impressions and the situation in Iran today for my Berlin radio station BLN.fm. Thanks to Namito for the super-interesting interview and Marc Reinkober for the technical expertise. Himmelpfort is a special place in Germany – it’s a beautiful small village in the far north of Brandenburg, idyllically surrounded by four lakes and dense forests. The small post office is the official post office of Santa Claus and it is not far from my name home base north of Berlin. Brit Eismann and Tilman Kunowski are raising the flag for cultural activities in this region with their events in the Kulturmühle. On the weekend from October 1st to 3rd, they will host the first art salon in their Mühle Himmelpfort. Artists from the region will expose their pictures and sculptures and: there will be music. On October 2nd there will be the first appearance of Harald Blüchel aka Cosmic Baby after many many years, playing the first of a series of piano concerts with new piano pieces that he has written in the past years. No electronica here, just an acoustic grand! On October 3rd there will be electronic, ambient electronica to be precise. The wonderful Jette von Roth will give a concert, showcasing her latest instrumental ambient compositions. If you are not familiar with her latest works, check her last albums meer and komische welt, both released on her own label roter punkt. Last man standing will be yours truly, playing a hybrid ambient electronica live & DJ set, just like I did at the last Audiovisual Playground a/v Party at Maze Berlin. The event on...read more
It’s time to play live again. I’m feeling it! Since my last live show at Nature One 2015 I have only been playing DJ gigs and some ambient electronic live jams with my Liquid Sky Berlin family. So I was very delighted when Kassablanca club asked me to play a live show for their “25 Years Of House And Techno in Jena” party. Kassablanca is next to Distillery Leipzig one of the longest running Techno clubs in the East of Germany and still this will be a first for me. My program will be a tour de force through 25 years of my own music with a focus on the 90s. So expect me to play some long time favourites live and direct with my beatboxes and sequencers. My friend DJ Jauche aka Jack Flash will play a DJ set and this reminds me to a great Jauchomatic party at Suicide Circus Berlin in March 2014 with the same constellation: me playing, he being the DJ. Local support comes from Jena residents Foch & Mulé. If you should happen to be in or around Jena on October 2nd, don’t hesitate but come to party! The event on Kassablanca’s website! This is the event on...read more
