Music that I have recorded 30 years ago is finally out on Tapete Records from Hamburg. The album “JETZT! – Liebe In Grossen Städten (1984-1988)” contains recordings from several formations of the band “JETZT!” by singer/ songwriter Michael Girke. I have been the bass player
Yesterday I attended the Berlin premiere of a new movie after a book by Element Of Crime singer Sven Regener. It’s a comedy set in the German Techno scene of the 90s. Marmion’s 1993 classic “Schöneberg” is part of the soundtrack.
German electronic pop duo 2raumwohung aka Inga Humpe and Tommi Eckart just released their 8th studio album Nacht und Tag. The opening track “1993” also carries some inspiration from “Schöneberg”

Red Bull Radio is streaming my liveset from the 30 Jahre Techno in Berlin at Funkhaus Berlin on September 14th 2018.Red Bull Radio wrote: “The longtime figurehead of the techno scene in Berlin spins tracks from the genre’s formative years. Mijk Van Dijk is a DJ and producer since the early ’90s who pioneered the early trance sound and runs the Microglobe label. Initially involved in bands, he discovered his passion for synths and drum machines in the 80s, and when the first wave of electronic dance music reached Europe, he became an avid partygoer and journalist for “Frontpage”, one of the first music magazines covering techno. In this session, the illustrious producer goes back to his roots, spinning classics from 30 years of techno.” My live set will be online at Red Bull Radio for 30 days and I shall upload it to my Mixcloud soon after. Numerous live acts and DJ-sets. But he always somehow remained in the shadow of top DJs like Sven Väth or Paul van Dyk. That does not stop him: He remains the undisputed most ambitious idea generator of his genre.” If you experience any problems during streaming of my set, please let me know. ...read more

microglobe is Mijk van Dijk’s new label for his very personal vision of Techno and House. Since his first record release in 1990 he has been a mainstay of the Berlin Techno scene. Between 1992 and 1995 he released several EPs as “microglobe” and also his first album “Afreuropamericasiustralia”. Now Mijk returns to his “microglobe” as a personal label after a long journey through the infinite vastness of electronic dance music. On the title track Mijk takes a stand on social and political issues in his very own way in the tradition of classic Chicago Deep House and his two „Think & Dance EP“s from 1994, “Peace 4 All” is about the simple truth that everyone has the right to live in peace. The track is released as a vocal version, instrumental and acapella. The second original track “The Floating World” takes Mijk’s trademark sounds from classics like “All Our Colors” (MFS Records, 1994) and “Motherwomb” (Frisbee Tracks, 2007) on a whole new level and has been road-tested in his DJ sets already with great success. The track title is inspired by Mijk’s love for Japanese culture and the art of Ukiyo-e. Mijk van Dijk will release a new EP on microglobe every 6 to 8 weeks. His next artist album is planned for the end of 2019. Peace 4 All is now available at Beatport, Traxsource, Apple Music and most other digital download stores. microglobe musikproduktion is a music label by Mijk van Dijk, DJ and producer from Berlin. Unlike his other labels nuFunkFiles, roter punkt and environ-mental recordings this time around it’s all about the music that Mijk is associated with by his fans since over 20 years: House, Techno and emotive sounds, the type of tracks, he loves to spin in the club in his DJ sets. Mijk van Dijk is bunching all the influences and ingredients of his career so far: the strength of Techno, the emotions of early 90s Trance (Marmion, Microglobe, Mindgear), the boogie of his releases as mijkfunk and The Chaenge, all enlightened and regrooved by the eternal spirit of House music. The term Microglobe is dear to Mijk. He released his first album Afreuropamericasiaustralica on MFS Records Berlin under this moniker in 1994. The world of House and Techno felt like a microglobe already back then and more than that now, in the times of the internet. Every information and every person seems to be just one click away and still there is no solution yet to the problems of the world all the citizens of the microglobe have in common and that Mijk was concerned with already 20 years ago in the lyrics and liner notes of Afreuropamericasiaustralica. The year 2013 marks the relaunch of Mijk’s idea of the microglobe. The first step was the launch of the website www.microglobe.de. It represents all the different shades and colours of Mijk’s world of music. Each project is a country, each label is a continent and they are all part of his microglobe. Next was the launch of Mijk’s radio podcast music 4 the microglobe, a 2-hour show divided in two sets. In the 1st Mijk plays his favourite new House tracks in the mix, just like in the club. It’s called “I House U”. The 2nd hour allows for more variations. Here Mijk presents music off the beaten track, as long as it is “Electric Eclectic Essential”. And now microglobe musikproduktion. At the moment Mijk is carefully producing the first releases. Modern Techno and House music with an attitude, lyrics with meaning and depth and sounds that resemble the vibe of his successful productions of the 90s. The first EPs will be produced by Mijk himself to define the sound of the label. Productions by other artists out of Mijk’s circles may follow. The first climax on microglobe productions will be the next Mijk van Dijk artist album in 2014, following the conceptional, emotional and lyrical path of his first album Afreuropamericasiaustralica, examining the state of the planet and its people 20 years later. So get ready for this. Because the world is just a...read more
Apart from appearances at DOMMUNE and Oiran Warm Up Radio Show my main occupation on my 30th tour to Japan was my first ever gig at Kaga Music Festival, a beautiful little music extravaganza in Ishikawa prefecture at the Japanese Sea. It’s an onsen festival, so taking a hot bath was also on the list, despite the hot weather of 35°C. After a convenient ride from Tokyo with the Shinkansen and Thunderbird trains, our small group arrived in Kaga. The festival hosts many different stages, some electronic, some with bands and even some with pop idols. One great experience was when House legend Soichi Terada invited Toby Izui and yours truly on stage for a solo with the Korg Kaossilator. I’m so glad that this enchanted moment was captured on video. Soichi Terada invites Toby Izui and Mijk van Dijk on stage My DJ set after this sweet live jam was ever so rewarding. Playing after Tofubeats and before Towa Tei to an enthusiastic crowd, my set was more like a concert. And of course, after an after hour in our traditionally style room, we went to the onsen (hot bath) at 4 am in the morning for relaxation. How good is that? Thank you Kaga Festival for having me, it was an unforgettable pleasure. Oiran Warm Up Radio...read more
