Mijk van Dijk Live DJ Set at Dommune Tokyo

November 14th 2014 I played a live DJ set at Dommune Tokyo. Dommune is a one of a kind internet radio show from Japan. They are situated in the basement of an old Microsoft office building in a remote part of Shibuya. It’s such a small basement, they only allow 20 to 30 guests. They always stream live on their website, from 7 pm until midnight Tokyo time, no replays on demand. In the first 2 hours they often present interviews about the state of the current club scene or interviews with the artists who would play live or DJ sets in the second part of the show. People from all over Japan log into the Twitter stream on the right side of their website and discuss the music, the artist and life in general. And I mean: from all over Japan, 10.000s of people.
To perform at Dommune is a must for every international DJ coming to Japan. It was already my second time playing Dommune and this time I wanted to share my love for NuFunk with a slow but energetic set.
I was introducing the new mijkfunk Kids Want Revolution EP on nuFunkFiles and was also featuring the album Rebellion by my band The Chaenge. And I could not resist to finish my set with the great remix of my Brother-in-Raw Toby Izui of Language’s “Autorun”, the band around my beloved Japanese singing companion Kaori Kaneko.
Technically speaking, I used a Vestax VCI-400 to control NI Traktor in the mix with NI Maschine for additional drum parts. More tech info here: http://shop.plaza.rakuten.co.jp/dj/di…
