There’s a big discussion in Germany about the correct interaction with women, caused by the horrible sexual assaults on women during New Year’s Eve celebrations in Cologne and Hamburg.
I simply would like to point out that the first way to respect women starts with each single man – and not by telling others what they should do and don’t.
This is very simple: for example, avoid contemptuous or discriminatory terms for women, do not harass women, accept that women have the same rights as men and concede them generally respectful treatment, as with all people.
Sexual assaults on women unfortunately happen also in Germany everywhere, not only on New Year's Eve and the notorious Oktoberfest and it's cheap propaganda to get riled about the disgusting attacks in Cologne and Hamburg, but be amused by the ribald Stammtisch jokes of pals.
BTW: the UN Women campaign #heforshe would love to receive more support by men, for equal rights for women.
