As the nightwings come down slowly upon this Sunday, I am being reminded of an exceptional album by Dutch Jazzrock guitarist Jan Akkerman in conjunction with German musical arranger, orchestrator, conductor & composer Claus Ogerman from the year of 1978. This is just symphonic orchestra and Jan’s exceptional guitar play. The music swells up and down and cuddles you gently. The atmosphere is tense and melancholic and the subtle oscillation of the chords merging and evolving sounds like time is stopped for a moment. This surely might be too soft for some of you guys out there, but I just love to listen to this every once in a while. BTW: this is perfect music to make love to. Treat yourself to the appetizer videos and try to find the whole album. It’s worth it.
