It’s the year of the Corona pandemic, but still we need to come together and listen to music, physically distanced and open air. That’s why we decided to organise the DJ stage of the annual Fête de la Musique in Fürstenberg this time in Himmelpfort as an ambient electronica DJ stage on the green of the old monastery.
The Fête de la Musique is a free open air festival series, originally from France but now taking place everywhere in the world every year on Midsummer day, June 21st.
Himmelpfort received it’s name from the ancient monks, who described the scenic setting between blue shimmering lakes and green old trees under the high and wide Brandenburg sky as the “door to heaven”. Famous for summer water sports like canoeing, this small village next to Fürstenberg is also a tourist favourite during Christmas time, because it is home to the official post office of Santa Claus.
My fellow DJs Carsten Binkow (from Templin), Swingwater (from Fürstenberg) and myself were spinning only ambient and downbeat for relaxed people chilling on the green on a sunny Sunday.
Music was played only from vinyl over a beautiful Vestax rotary DJ mixer.
We were accompanied by most beautiful weather and a glorious sunset over the Haussee next to the monastry. It felt a bit like Café del Mar on Ibiza without the beach.
A big thank you to Elke Schmälzle and her team from Weihnachtshaus Himmelpfort for hosting us so nicely. We surely gonna do this again!
