roy ayers ubiquityMessage from the waterfront: don’t hang around in the shade. Enjoy your life in the sunshine. Coz like Roy Ayers knows: Everybody Loves The Sunshine.
Need I say more?

Well, maybe I should tell you a bit about my connection to that song. Back in 88, when the music was colorful and new and genres merely existed, I not only explored House and Techno but also Hip Hop, together with my studio partner Hannes Talirz aka Positive Thinking and Westberlin girl rapper Sweet Lady Sue and her DJ Nytroe.
We would look for suitable Rare Groove, Funk and Soul Samples and build Hip Hop playbacks for Sue & Nytroe.
We would even participate at the Berlin Senatsrock Contest where we competed with 2 other Hip Hop/ Electronic outfits. We performed with a band setup, Sue was MCing, Nytroe was scratching, Hannes was doing all electronics and I would play electric guitar and bass. We were not really tight though and well-deserved only were runners-up to WestBerlin’s premier Old School Hip Hop group Rock Da Most featuring DJ Derezone, DJ Run X Kid, MC Roskoe and MC Blacky.
One of the tracks we composed was a sweet slow love jam called “So Special” build around a loop of Roy Ayers’ “Everybody Loves The Sunshine”. It was never recorded properly though.
I also cannot find any traces of Sweet Lady Sue and DJ Nytroe on the web, just this YouTube video of an 1986 recording of DJ Nytroe.
So I’d better encourage you to look for Rock Da Most on the WWW.
Here’s one fine example of their style on YouTube.
