Monica Jeffries from Hamburg has an amazing voice. Alison Moyet, Yazoo and Erasure come to mind, when you hear her 80s infused synth pop, nowadays a highly under-rated genre.
From day one she has also been a big fan of The Chaenge, my NuFunk band with Florian Schirmacher. Monica was attending our gigs and writing nice comments about our music on the usual social media sites. So when she asked me for a remix of her debut single “Mystery”, I naturally promised her a NuFunk remix.
I dropped the chord changes of the original and switched on the vocoder instead for some extra harmony over a lazy Boogie beat.
Now it’s finally out and I am very happy to share this with you. I hope you like it too.
