Closer EP

After a gig in Stuttgart, Mijk went to the studio together with Kling Klong boss Martin Eyerer for 2 days. On the first day, they worked with Cubase on “Closer”. The phat bass line is provided by a real Minimoog synth tweaked by Mijk.
In the meantime  Martin was in control of EQs, FX and Cubase. On the second day they finished the track -but there were stil 4 hours left until Mijk had to leave for the airport. So Mijk launched Ableton Live and showed Martin his way of production. And after some more than 3 hours, the track “Wider” was produced. Mijk van Dijk – Closer-EP  is record of the month September on Housefloor Webmagazine.
Also in the charts of Arnaud Rebotini (Blackstrobe) #2, Mike McKenna #3, Zimbardo #8

Diringer: “wider” goes deep i like
Derek Taylor: Really like both tracks here! but from what i’ve heard the ‘Wider’ track is the best of the two! really cool, grinding tech-housers!! quality!! 8/10
Shinedoe: I like this track.
Mark Dynamix: Good to hear Mijk back to his minimial sounds, almost sounding like Pascal FEOS with his new track CLOSER, but more distorted and fucked up! nice 9/10  Wider is good also
Tube & Berger: Ist ja echt geiles Zeug vom Herrn van Dijk. This will be a hit! Wider: not as strong as Closer, but still a must have.
Tedd Patterson: Deep!!! great tune
Louis Osbourne: Really Really Really diggin this Mijk Van Djik release. One of the best things from you guys in a while.
Satoshi Tomiie: I like both tunes, Wider works for me…
CloserBackOxia: I like “Closer”, good groovy track. ‘wider’ is a good track too.
Andry Nalin: mein tune ist definitiv “closer”. coole hook, in my chart for shure.
Paul Jackson: Really like “Closer”. More quality music from a quality label.
Claude VonStroke: Closer sounds really interesting. The synth line reminds me of old b-boy electro breakdance music. Wider is more minimal and less interesting to me although the drums are a little bit more my style with a funk swing.  I can hear Martin Eyerer in this one for sure.
Tomaz: just yesterday I got Mijk’s release on Big&Dirty… great to see he’s back
Aldrin: Wow.. Mijk Van Dijk.. Haven’t heard that name for a while..and I like the new sound. Closer is a killer track. Another rocket from Kling Klong.
Richard Larive (Energy Mastermix): Superding!
Michel De Hey: Thanks I like the bside. Must sound great in the club. Minimal but not boring.

Solider Funktionstechno. 4/6

URB Mag (USA): Superstition recording artist begins a steady re-surface and makeover with this growling, progressive tech workout. “Closer” is one noisy number with lots of fuzzy basslines and clacking percussion, and an added Dutch accordion melody. Could this be the onset of a new genre; minimal trance, or is that an oxymoron? “Wider” leans way more on the click-tech end of things with grinding pads and a relentless, metallic groove. It’s mind-numbing and hypnotic.

IDJ: ‘Mijk Van Dijk returns’, hails the blurb that came attached with this promo. Now, I will be perfectly honest and say that I didn’t know he had gone anywhere. He is responsible for one of the biggest house tunes of all time, ‘Schoneberg’ which release back in 96. These two minimal techy tracks are a perfect set opener for me, and really set the mood with their dirty atmospheric scrapes and bleeps. Seriously high quality production, which you would of course expect from Mijk and his co-producer Martin Eyerer. If pushed for a choice between the two I’d go for ‘Wider’ with its relentless easy groove. 5

Bleed *****-***

Discoid (Italy): Produced by Martin Eyerer this is yet another slice of electronic mayhem for all the floors that dare to get in its way, both sides are very interesting compositions that operate in their own personal ways but the end result is the same, hypnotic, throbbing, pulsating, powerful groovy tunes for today’s floors from old time master Mijk Van Dijk!

.:: housefloor fazit ::.
Record of the month September!!!
