HeForSheLOGO2I recently watched Emma Watson’s wonderful speech at United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 20, 2014, announcing the campaign HeForShe by the UN.
I heard that she received a lot of hate on the net for this.
And I asked myself: why?
Why does it attract hate, when you demand equal rights?
I have the firm belief that every human being should have equal rights.
Which does not mean that we are all the same.
Thank God humans are tall and small and black and white and blonde and bold and men and women.
And  more! With all the different shades and colours between us, we are all human.
I embrace the diversity of our world and mankind and just can’t understand when people fear that.
I believe that the Fear Of The Unknown is dividing us. Just like the wise yedi Yoda used to say:
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
But there’s nothing to be afraid of. We’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain on our microglobe.

Mijk-van-Dijk_Heforshe_2My comment issued to UNwomen.de today reads like this:
“As a loving son and husband and father of a beloved mother, wife and daughter, I strive for a world, in which all women have the same rights and opportunities as men. It’s as simple as that!
If this makes me a feminist, then please call me so.”

Still reading? Good, so I didn’t lose you with my too personal non-music related chit chat. 😉
You can speak out too, when you’re a man. Yup, this is a Boy’s only Club.

Today I encourage you to take action and join the club.
And why should you? To put it in Emma’s words: “If not me – who? If not now – when?”
Are you man enough to participate?
